It was Capetonian songwriter Simon van Gend’s goal to write a song a week over the course of a year, and in February 2015 he completed this mission.
To celebrate the completion of the task he contacted artist Sanet Stegmann to sketch an ink drawing for each of the 52 songs. The songs were then recorded by Simon Gend and his band Bande a Parte to form part of their new album.
This edition of First Thursdays will see the launch of their new album Suffer Well as well as an exhibition of the accompanying ink drawings.
