Back in the day, before smartphones took over, the height of any gathering in my family happened when we broke out the games.We played heated rounds of Scrabble, Cluedo, cards or 30 Seconds. Brother turned on brother, daughters betrayed mothers all in the pursuit of board game victory!
In fact, the only time the kids and adult got together at these gatherings was to play games. It really brought us together and resulted in some of my favourite memories. You can have your child’s birthday party at The Big Box Café, where they can challenge their friends to a tournament of quick games that will certainly get their brains buzzing.
Not only are boardgames a ton of fun, they are also extremely educational. The Big Box Café can assist teachers who want to bring some fun into the classroom. They can help teachers choose games on the basis of age and what they want to stimulate; imagination, vocabulary, logic, colours, calculation or spatial representation.
Education through gaming is something that The Big Box Café takes very seriously. They recognise the important role games can play in a child’s development, not only with nurturing the skills mentioned above, but with social skills as well. This is why five percent of their income is allocated to buy new board games for schools and orphanages. So when you go and play at the café, you are contributing to this initiative.
