Celebrate the warmer weather with a visit to the annual Franschhoek Open Gardens Festival, where ten generous owners open their magical gardens to the public.

There are some new gardens this year, including Fransvliet, Le Domaine Charmant, 14 Avenue Estate and The Stables. There’s also the of an old favourite garden, La Rive.

All proceeds from ticket sales, tea, and wine tasting will be donated to the Fleur de Lis home for the aged, supported by the Lions Club of Franschhoek.

Attractions

Enjoy a sumptuous tea at Fransvliet.
Taste the estate wines at the private garden at Grande Provence.
Live music in four of the gardens.
There will be a plant sale in the centre of the village and a lively village market.
Check out the ‘Garden in a Pot’ competition, where twenty gardeners put their prowess on display.
Don’t miss the Medicinal Garden, which is on the right side when entering the village from the direction of Paarl. This is a community garden run by a knowledgeable gardener who is always happy to share his knowledge of the medicinal and cosmetic uses of the plants he grows, of which a large selection is on sale.

Cost R150 for ten gardens. Tickets are available at the Town Hall in the centre of the village, and at Fransvliet, on the approach road from Paarl.
