Wednesday 8 July – Sunday 19 July
The JBay Winter Fest attracts a field of over 45 000 to partake in or spectate a total of 13 different sporting events. It draws in national and international competitors to participate in a line-up of disciplines open to the public, along with invite-only speciality events. The festival’s main highlight would be the JBay Open of Surfing, held on the final day which generally draws in over 10 000 spectators.
But if surfing is not your thing, the town of Jeffreys Bay also hosts a Mountain Bike Open with several distances ranging from 40 km to a technical 85 km route, a Downhill Sokkie Jol with ramps and obstacles for skateboarders, a three-stage trail run, Oakley’s X-Over Championship and a Winter Music Festival featuring the country’s leading acts.
And if none of these activities tickle your fancy, the festival exhibits other events including a skins fishing competition, a Funduro, a Cold-Water Swim Classic and a Kite Festival.
This festival has everything, from adventure sports to a great music festival, to scrumptious food. So the real question you should be asking yourself is not ‘why go?’, but rather ‘why wouldn’t you go?’
If you are still not convinced, have a look at this years Jbay Winter Fest video for last year’s highlights and this year’s events lineup.
