Cedric Vandenschrik’s musical, Kings, Queens and Divas pays tribute to the classic hits of music idols, past and present.

Written and performed by Vandenschrik, Kings, Queens and Divas brings together a rainbow of costumes and humorous caricatures. A band and three vocalists perform hits by a range of artists from the King of Pop to the Queen of Soul.

Audiences can expect a dynamic revival of classics including Michael Jackson’s ‘Beat It,’ Tina Turner’s ‘Proud Mary,’ George Michael’s ‘Faith’ and Cher’s ‘Turn Back Time’. You’ll also enjoy hits by Elvis, Aretha Franklin, Freddy Mercury, Mick Jagger, Dolly Parton, David Bowie, Diana Ross, and more.

You’ll be tapping your toes and swinging your hips during a tribute to 70s disco divas in a medley of sequence-studded tunes.

The star-studded cast

Vandenschrik plays the lead and transforms his appearance to play the likes of David Bowie, George Michael, James Brown and Luciano Pavarotti.

Songbird, Luella Holland portrays divas like Madonna and Celine Dion. Holland studied Drama at UCT and graduated in 2008. She later completed her teaching qualification at the university and now works as a professional actress and performance coach in Cape Town.

Monique Hellenberg stuns in performances as Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner and Diana Ross. She completed her BMus in Jazz Studies at UCT in 2004.

The show wouldn’t be complete without live music. Andre Swartz sets the beat on drums; Jeandre Schultzon makes the rhythms come alive on guitar, Michael McAuley adds the bass while Meryl van Noie brings the notes to life on the keyboard.
