This year’s SA HorrorFest has a jam-packed lineup of movies, short films, music and literature. There will be a Halloween dress-up, night markets and a free movie making masterclass with the School of Audio Engineering (SAE) Institute, with an international filmmaker as the guest speaker.

Movies
You’re unlikely to see the spine-chilling lineup of films on any other big screen on the continent. Expect to see zombies, vampires, werewolves, ghosts, ghouls, paranormal, possession, slashers, classics, documentary, short film collections and more. There are also three local films, including an Afrikaans feature. See the full lineup here.

Live soundtrack performance
Friday 30 October brings you a live performance by the Makabra Ensemble, who have been creating new soundtracks to classic silent films for 10 years. This year, they present a new take on the classic vampire film, Nosferatu.

Music
Saturday 31 October allows you to join in with an audience participation screening for The Rocky Horror Picture Show’s 40th anniversary on Halloween night. Individual participation packs that will make you feel like you’re in the film will be on sale.

Friday 6 November sees the close of the festival with a free after party at Mercury Live, with a host of local alternative bands and DJs.
