It’s been an incredible time for art lovers. The Cape Town Fringe Festival is showcasing everything from magic to music, drama to comedy and everything in between. Now in it’s last week, the Cape Town Fringe is going out with a bang, by holding SA’s first ever Buskers’ festival at the V&A Waterfront. The Cape Town Buskers’ Festival will hold free-to-enter performances that the whole family will love. And it’s just in time for the school holidays.

International and local street performers (or buskers) will dazzle you with their talents. The line up includes Canada’s Dynamike who can apparently juggle chainsaws and children, although not at the same time! SA’s Bravo will have you laughing with his comedy and acrobats, and Anecdote, a 5 part acapella group, will serenade you with beautiful songs.

These are just a few of the acts you can watch. Like the Cape Town Fringe Festival, there is something for everyone. The performances may be free, but if you like what you see, you can tip them by putting money in their hats.

Cape Town Buskers’ Festival CEO Tony Lankester says:

‘In many respects busking is the original crowd-funding, it’s also one of the oldest forms of theatre but, in South Africa, it’s not always accorded the same respect as other performance arts. We have brought out some international acts to add variety to the programme but our local street performers certainly dominate and will hold their own with the crowds.’

It seems fitting that the Cape Town Fringe Festival close with the Busker’s Festival, where arts and culture are performed in a public space for all to enjoy. Here is the festival programme:
