Hold onto your socks, there’s a new live music venue in town this winter. The Two Oceans Aquarium and Texx and the City have teamed up for After Dark, a series of stripped-down music events featuring some of South Africa’s best bands. Southern Wild, Grassy Spark, AKING, Bam Bam Brown, Majozi and Gemma Griffiths will be performing in one of Cape Town’s best-loved attractions, the Two oceans Aquarium. There will be two bands playing per night, for three nights only and these are expected to be the dreamiest gigs of all.

In June, July and August 2018, the area in front of the I&J Ocean Exhibit will be transformed into a cozy, living room-style setting where you’ll be able to enjoy awesome, acoustic, local music. Tecla Ciolfi, doyenne of the local music scene and founder of entertainment website Texx and the City, personally curated the artists who will be gracing the aquatic stage.

Various recitals were hosted at the Aquarium years ago and they were very popular.Due to demand, and recognising that the Aquarium is a unique, spellbinding venue where truly anything is possible, they’ve decided to bring live music back. Texx and the City the obvious choice of partner for After Dark – Tecla is highly respected in the industry, has her finger on the pulse of local music, and just so happens to be a genuine fan of the Aquarium.

Tecla said: “The Two Oceans Aquarium is without a doubt my favourite place in Cape Town and I’ve never been more excited about any events I’ve ever hosted. Texx and the City also turns 10 years old this year so I’m using After Dark as the perfect excuse to have three birthday parties that feature some of my favourite SA bands.”

The Drifter Brewing Company, known for the unusual brews, will also partner with them for this event. Drifter will be provide either a tasty buchu-infused gin and tonic or a Pick Me Up Pale Ale to each guest upon arrival and the full range of Drifter beers will be on sale at the events.

About the event:
