Happy Women’s day. Behind every successful nation, are some amazingly, strong, independent and successful women.  As we celebrate women from every walk of life today, we want to pay homage to the our local queens who continue to make waves in the world. Here are our 5 Cape Town women and some of their quotes to live by. This was a difficult task, as there are so many phenomenal women that make up this beautiful city. Today and everyday, we salute you all.

1.  Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters, Former Miss South Africa 2017 and now, Newly crowned Miss Universe 2017

(We know she’s not originally from Cape Town, but she lives here now, so we are claiming her)

3. Jo-Anne Strauss, Former Miss South Africa, Tv Personality and Model

“I live by a mantra,’if it’s to be, it’s up to me.’ I think some people wait on others to fulfill their dreams. That way, their dreams remain dreams.”

4. Siba Mtongana, South African Celebrity Chef

“The first barrier to female leadership is the stereotypical idea that males are better leaders than women. And it is not a South African stereotype either, it is an international one. We need to shatter this.”

5. Jeannie D, Tv and Radio presenter, actress, model

“I like showing off (around a track) because guys don’t think that a girl can drive fast, and then you get in a car and you beat them … in heels. It’s priceless!”
