It’s the event of the year and it has finally arrived. The annual horse racing event will see celebrities and fashion icons come out in their numbers to the Kenilworth Racecourse. At the heart of the event is the glitz and glam of its theme “Style ahead of the field”, inspired by Africa. You wouldn’t want to miss out on a chance to mingle with your favorite local celeb while cashing in on your favorite horse. Tickets prices start from R200.

Origin Music Fest: 

Electronic dance music and trance will gather for the ultimate party taking place from Friday until Sunday. Origin Festival will be returning to Elandskloof Farm and its set to be an epic weekend. The festival will feature a range of artists and DJ’s both local and international. Tickets are available on Quicket and range in price between R350/p to R590/p. There are also glamping options available and these range from R1 950/p to R3 500/p.

Up The Creek Music Festival: 

If trance music is not your thing then Up The Creek is just for you. You can expect a variety of other music genres such as pop, indie folk and violin Solo’s. Up The Creek takes place from Saturday till Sunday near Swellendam. Up The Creek is still the only festival which allows you to camp next to your car. However, if you’d prefer to stay in something more stylish, there are glamping options for you. There are only weekend passes available this year. Tickets cost R1 060/p (including a R30 service fee) and are available via Nutickets.co.za.

SUNDAY 

Groote Post’s Monthly Market: 

End off the busy weekend with a relaxing day in the beautiful surroundings of Vineyards in Darling. The popular monthly market will be open this Sunday and it offers a bit of everything for you and your family. Children can go on tractors or do horse riding and have their face painted. Lunch is served either seated at the restaurant or under the trees. There is also live music which sets the mood just right. The cost is free.

3 Tons Of Fun Live: 

They are fast becoming one of the best local acts in the Mother City. Known for their cover hits of the 90’s, 3 Tons Of Fun will definitely make you want to face the Monday blues. The group was formed 10 years ago when they realised that there was a calling for “real women to show off their sexiness and incredible voices”. The all-female group will be performing at Quay 4 on Sunday, 28 January from about 17h00 – 18h15.

The Soil:  

Award-winning South African acapella group, The Soil, will be performing in Kirstenbosch this Sunday. The group’s iconic music features an eclectic mix of musical genres such as jazz, hip hop, Afro-pop and Afro-soul.
