As our dams dry up and water is becoming increasingly stored, breeding conditions for mosquitos are becoming increasingly favourable with the rise of stagnant water.
Associate Professor Mike Picker from the University of Cape Town explains how, through water-saving initiatives, we may be creating ideal conditions for the spread of mosquitos as the drought tightens its grip over the Western Cape. The threat of water-borne disease is also a hot topic at the moment.
