Bree Street has welcomed a new addition to their trendy restaurant lane’s foodie-family. SeaBreeze Fish & Shell has opened its doors and invited Cape Town into their contemporary interior and menu of the freshest seafood and produce sourced from local coastlines.

The sea-blue exterior and 10 metre long communal dining hightop outside is the perfect spot to socialise and watch a bustling Bree Street go by.

Seafood deliveries being made daily ensures fresh food and exceptional quality every time. The restaurant’s most recent dishes include hake ceviche with cream cheese and squid ink mayo. Also silverfish with braaied corn and salsa verde, as well as griddled king prawns with avo puree and chilli mayo.

Canapés on the evening of the launch included bite-size portions of hake and chips with a delectable and unique tartar sauce on the side.  The fresh line-caught tuna burger sliders and crispy onions made their way around the room too and directly into our hungry bellies. It was raining oysters on the night, with the oyster “barmen” shucking like there was no tomorrow. An absolutely divine champagne vinaigrette to top them off became the ideal alternative to a lemon squeeze.

There was no shortage of champagne to drink on its own either, as well as some plus-size rum cocktails to wet our tongues after more than one salty oyster.

The new seafood hotspot offers an outstanding offer of “10 bucks a shuck” 5 – 6pm daily for their Oyster Happy Hour. The wine and MCC list offers major value for money, with most of the list being offered by the glass.

“Whether people pop in for a bite to eat during their work day, some oysters and fizz after work or decide to linger longer over our dinner options, we want each dish and experience to remind people what great seafood is all about” say owners Alex and Ruth Grahame. The British team of two left Scotland for Cape Town, having owned and operated the renown Hornblowers Seafood Restaurant in Gourdon.
