There is no place that perfectly captures Cape Town’s natural beauty, cosmopolitan lifestyle and world class atmosphere like the V&A Waterfront and surrounds. You are by the sea, the whole of Table Mountain is visible and you’re close to the most popular attractions Cape Town has to offer. It’s truly a magical part of the city and the perfect place to stay.

Radisson Blu, one of the world’s most trusted hotel brands is smack bang in the middle of all this action. Located right by the water, it overlooks the harbour, mountain, V&A Waterfront and Green Point Stadium. I recently discovered that it is as cool on the inside as it looks on the outside. It will definitely add a level of luxury to your stay.

The Rooms

I had the privilege of staying in a Business Class room. In addition to the insanely comfortable bed, bath and shower, WiFi and standard hotel goodies, the room also had a lounging area and private balcony overlooking the harbour. Two smart TVs (one by the bed and one in the lounge) are on hand to help you with anything hotel related. You can check the hotel offerings, weather, read the headlines from international newspapers, set an alarm and of course watch TV. There are a number of local and international channels to enjoy. You can even keep track of your bill on the TV as well!

Rather than dialing a whole bunch of numbers for various services, the phones have a ‘one touch’ service button. You can use this to arrange what you need, from laundry to babysitting and everything in between. The Business Class rooms also receive a local paper every morning. It’s such a pleasure to wake up, grab the paper and sit on the balcony with a Nespresso before heading down for breakfast.

Their room-service menu features mouthwatering dishes and for those mornings you feel like lying in, you can get breakfast sent up to your room. As for the bathrooms, I could stay in them forever. They are spacious, clean and equipped with everything you need, including bath salts, for when you are due for a luxurious soak.

Pool-Area

Dining

Tobago restaurant offers fine dining that showcases the best of local cuisine. The restaurant offers indoor and outdoor seating, so on those lovely summer days you can eat right by the ocean. The bar and terrace are right by the pool. This means you can sip on a cocktail while soaking up some sun, or indulge in a nightcap with the sound of the ocean to enhance your relaxation.

Breakfasts are also served at Tobago. You can enjoy a Super Breakfast Buffet, and boy does it live up to it’s name. No matter your dietary requirements or preferences, you will find something for you. Fresh fruit, smoothies, muesli (with gluten free options), eggs, waffles and pancakes all made to order – I haven’t even gone through half of what’s on offer!

The staff go out of their way to accommodate your needs, something that is common throughout the hotel. Whether it’s locating a box of tissues for a sudden sneeze attack (it’s flu season) or making you take-away tea so you can walk along the pier by the hotel in the cold, they will get it done. FYI, the pier has incredible views.

Activities

There is plenty to do in the surrounding area and the tour desk can arrange it all. An hourly shuttle will take you to the V&A Waterfront for free, where you can explore and shop to your heart’s content. If you are a jogger, there is a jogging station with jogging maps, towels and complimentary water. For those who need some pampering, the Amani Spa is also on hand and ready to spoil you.

The Radisson brand has always been associated with comfort and luxury. Radisson Blu Waterfront truly lives up to this. With it’s prime location, quality service and incredible rooms, it is the perfect place to stay in Cape Town.
