We’re all guilty of obsessing over the Western Culture (I know I am). Their food, style, TV programmes, and of course, their art. La Mouette Restaurant aims to abolish this by introducing [email protected] Mouette; featuring new and known African artwork from Cape Town based artists.
La Mouette showcases incredible works of contemporary African art for you to cherish. They plan to ignite your passion for contemporary African art.
Seven – that’s the number of artists whose artwork is on display in their restaurant. Lucky for us, we get to appreciate seven different and significant stories expressed through art.
If there’s one thing I’m not in this world is shy. But that’s just me. Some people are blessed with the ability to channel their energy on canvas.
‘Canvas’ is an understatement for John Bauer, who is a prolific and highly experimental contemporary ceramic artist. I was completely blown away by his new flat ceramic artworks which are extremely remarkable and rich in texture.
Other artists that are featured at [email protected] Mouette are Cathy Layzell, MJ Lourens, Godfrey Makopa, Louis Nel and Frans Smit.
The artists’ work range from brightly textured and impasto artwork, to eclectic and playful art pieces with tribal undertones.
An intimate tudor home with 2 floors, 4 dining rooms, 6 fireplaces, and a bar/lounge area. Now complete that image with a cobblestone courtyard.
That’s La Mouette restaurant. Yep – it brings the word ‘comfort’ to life. You’re definitely set to enjoy their mouth-watering gourmet menu.
And now with art added to the list – you’ll find yourself asking for a room to crash in.
