From 1 February 2015 a new load shedding schedule will be put in place by the City of Cape Town, as instructed by Eskom. We all know what that basically means when the words ‘proposed’ and ‘Eskom’ are used in the same sentence but we will most definitely be publishing the info regarding the schedule when it is available. Moving on to a bit of grim local news, a scissors-wielding weirdo walked into a Pick & Pay in Boston yesterday (the one near Bellville, not Mark Wahlberg’s hometown in the US) and randomly began to stab people. Three victims (two staff members and a customer) are currently in hospital and the retailer confirmed that it is in contact with the victims and their families. Police are looking into it and the suspect will be facing charges of attempted murder. It’s unclear what motivated the unprovoked attack but let’s hope that at least a few generous vouchers are compensated to the affected. Read more here.
January is the toughest month of the year and our city knows this. In fact, they know this so well that the official Cape Town tourism website put together a list of 50 things to do in Cape Town for under R50. Neat.
