This March, Cape Town City Ballet presents Carmen, a dramatic, full-length ballet choreographed by Veronica Paeper in 1987.
Carmen, a wild, rebellious Andalusian gypsy, falls in love with the upstanding yet naive soldier Don José. Meanwhile a bold, handsome toreador named Escamilio is waiting in the wings, looking to slum it with Carmen. A love triangle ensues, of course.
Casting includes guest artists Tracy Li and Daniel Rajna, who performed as Carmen and Done José when the ballet was staged in 2006.
