There’s nothing quite like enjoying a refreshing cocktail and some nibbles with your friends after a long, hard day at work. Add the incredible backdrop of Cape Town and you’re all set for a great night. Café Royale has launched a new tapas and cocktail menu that will take that night to new heights.

Mixologist, Wesley Hill has created an array of awesome cocktails for Café Royale that consist of new concoctions presented in the coolest way, and the classics with a bit of a twist. Whether you like sweet or strong, Wesley has created a cocktail that will suit you perfectly. I should know, I got to taste them all!

Let’s start with Marie Antoinette. A deliciously sweet cocktail, it’s one of those dangerous drinks that will have you buzzing before you even realise it. A mixture of Peach Schnapps, Southern Comfort, Malibu, Vodka, Banana Liquor with Pineapple and Cranberry Juice, one of these babies are sure to start you off right.

The Double Margarita is definitely a party starter. Served as a frozen margarita in a tall glass, it comes with a tequila on the side that you could either mix with your drink or have straight up. La Dame Royale comes in a black box. With Vodka, Triple sec. Lime and fresh watermelon you can understand why. One sip has the ability to make those with a low tolerance instantly tipsy. Angel’s Tears are for those with a sweet tooth, and can be swapped out for dessert. Disarrano, dark rum, Amerula and Nachtmusik ensure you get the best of both dessert and alcohol worlds.

My personal favourite was a cocktail called the Poison Apple. It combines all my favourite things, Jack Daniels, Pimm’s, apple liquor, lime and cinnamon, for a wonderfully spicy/fruity drink. If you are in a celebratory mood, there is a champagne cocktail called Slip into Silk, and it is as decadent as it sounds. Sparkling wine, Créme de Cassis and a Maraschino cherry to top it off.

What’s a good cocktail with out the perfect dish? You can choose all your favourites with the new tapas menu. If you want something light, there are some bar snacks that you can chomp on, that include marinated Olives, mixed nuts and cheese sticks. You can line your stomach with a hummus and guacamole garlic Crostini, smoked salmon pancakes and vegetable spring rolls, or tuck into grilled calamari with lemon aioli, chilli poppers, Jack Daniel chicken wings, chicken and beef satay with peanut butter sauce, meatballs, grilled prawns and beef short rib. In short, your taste buds are in for an epic treat.
