The Palette Fine Art Gallery brings a multitude of visual artworks together at their premises in central Stellenbosch. Local sculptors and other visual artists are paid homage at the gallery, where you may find artworks ranging from African to Abstract, Contemporary to Realism all present. The gallery has become somewhat of a cultural must-do in the picturesque town, with its inclusion into Last Thursdays Stellenbosch (an artsy, ironic twist on First Thursdays Cape Town) solidifying it as a premier art destination in Stellenbosch.
Owner Lydia Da Silva is delighted to have recently opened a second location of Palette in the chic suburb of De Waterkant. This neighbourhood is rather artistic in itself, a real hub at the moment for art enthusiasts and admirers of charming, cosmopolitan architecture. The move to open an additional gallery as a platform for talented artists here is a no-brainer; the works at Palette are displayed on consignment, enabling a great unbiased approach to give local artists a chance to express their creativity. Ultimately it’s raw and unadulterated fine art in its purest form.
Some of the exciting artworks to be found at the new Palette Fine Art Gallery include the work of renown artist Vincent da Silva. His impressive sculpted work Monumental Wind Girl in bronze is on display, as well as his life-sized bronze ceremental sculpture perches elegantly on the gallery’s steps.
