The annual Street Food Festival is returning to Cape Town for the fifth time and will be dishing out authentic South African food to satisfy taste buds from the 1 – 2 September 2018.

Due to the successful turnout at the previous festival, the Street Food Festival 2018 will now be a 10-day celebration of food.

The event will provide music, food, food film screenings such as ‘Lunch Box’ – a film showcasing a positive take on the power of food and its connection to love.

Mouth-watering tacos, pizza and slow-smoked chicken are some of the options on the menu along with sweet and savoury treats to delight.

Unique creations such as Unicorn toasted cheese sandwiches will be on offer.

The festival will introduce their new initiative, Street Food Festival (SFF) Love, as they focus on increasing sustainability and food security awareness by partnering up with FoodForward SA.

Along with a line up of local DJ’s performing there will be ‘crate talks’, where local food entrepreneurs will speak about the industry and share their pearls of wisdom on food in South Africa.

Bianca Hansen, founder of Toast Ale will be providing insight on sustainability and re-usage of wasted food, along with a stellar line up of engaging talks from other food moguls.

Tickets cost R50 for a single day pass, R80 for a two-day pass and can only be purchased at the gate or on Quicket.

Opening Party 

A premier cocktail produced by SFF will be served for one night only at House of Machines, located in the central CBD.

Date: 31 August 2018

Time: 6pm – late

 

Night Market 

The first market will start at the V&A Waterfront, Cape Town Cruise Terminal. There will be an array of vendors and live music for the evening, from Retro Rootz to Floyu.

Date: 1 September 2018

Time: 5pm – 9pm

 

Day Market

A full day fo sticky, sweet, deep-fried and fresh food along with ‘crate talks’ and live DJ performances by DJ Fosta and more.

Date:  2 September 2018

Time: 11am – 5pm

 

SFF Snack Map 

An exclusive dish that has been inspired by street food will be available at Clarkes and Max Bagels over a 4 day period

Date: 3 – 7  September 2018

Time: Daily.

 

Food Film Screening 

A special screening of the Lunch Box will take place at the quaint venue, The Labia. Tickets cost R50 per person.

Date: 3 September  2018

Time: 6.15pm

 

Food Walk 

A walkabout to six stops in the Cape Town City Bowl to explore the food and drinks available in the area. Tickets cost R450 per person for the walk.

Date: 4 – 7 September 2018

Time: 10am – 1pm
