A 68-year-old man was stabbed during a bike hijacking in Fish Hoek at 9.55am this morning. The man, who is yet to be identified by police, was riding his bike on a trail when he was attacked.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Andrè Traut said, “The suspect fled the scene with the victim’s mountain bike and is yet to be arrested.”

An eyewitness told police that the suspect was riding what looked like a brand new mountain bike and was last seen heading towards Kommetjie. It was reported circumstances surrounding the death were being investigated. The attacker fled the scene with his dark blue/black with electric blue GT and yellow writing on rims on his Dual-Sus GT mountain bike.

Be on the look out for a bike similar to the one depicted in the picture.

Table Mountain Bikers Group warned cyclists to avoid the Peers Cave area.

The victim was a Fish Hoek resident and member of the Recyclers Club. Our sincerest condolences go out to his wife and son.
