South Africa is finally welcoming Beyoncé to take to the stage this year at the Global Citizen Festival on 2 December at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.

The Global Citizen Festival will host a star studded line up of musical performances by Ed Sheeran, D’Banj, Chris Martin, Usher, Pharrell Williams and a stellar list of local artists.

The Global Citizen is a movement that focuses on poverty and aims to end world poverty by 2030. The Global Citizen festival: Mandela 100, will celebrate the centenary year of Nelson Mandela and his plight to end inequality and poverty. The festival will be celebrated over 6 months in line with the United Nations sustainable development goals. It will take place in a number of countries across the world and aims to spread the message and ethos of the Global Citizen.

The event will be hosted by the likes of Oprah, Naomi Campbell, Gayle King, Bob Geldof, Forest Whitaker and Tyler Perry.

“Nelson Mandela’s life story is a testament to the power of the human spirit and one man’s ability to change the world by standing up for what he believed in,” Oprah Winfrey said to The Global Citizen.

Local fans are losing their mind as they scramble for tickets but attendees have been informed that tickets are free of cost. In order to obtain a ticket to festival, you are encouraged to take action in the initiatives of Global Citizen. Ask major business and organisations to do their part in alleviating poverty, hunger, reducing HIV/AIDS transmission rates, producing quality education, increasing clean water and safe sanitation worldwide, promoting equality for men and women, providing women focused health plans and more. Potential attendees can start earning their tickets from 21 August and sign up on Global Citizen app. The Global Citizen Facebook messenger will direct instructions on involvement from today.
