International food and drink website The Daily Meal recently compiled a list of the 11 coolest coffee shops in the world and sailing into second place is a Cape Town roastery!

We congratulate Truth Coffee for their achievement. The Daily Meal is by no means a small-time publication (as their 230k Facebook followers prove) so it’s quite an achievement. Truth’s steampunk theme and amazingly good coffee put them right up there – undoubtedly a positive for Cape Town tourism.

As stated by The Daily Meal:

With a loud steampunk aesthetic and home-roasted coffee so good that they provide the beans for various five-star hotels in South Africa, Truth Coffee is a must-see in Cape Town. For those who don’t know, steampunk is a style heavily inspired by steam-powered machinery from the 19th century. As a result, steampunk style incorporates grand Victorian styles with modern punk, which is why you’ll find saw-blade tabletops, a plethora of exposed pipes, vintage typewriters, Singer sewing machines, and many other Old-World-meets-New-World elements at Truth Coffee. They even have a barista school and a 1940s Probat roaster named Colossus.’

Coffee shops from all over the world featured in the list, with roasteries in Hong Kong, Canada, Italy and the US also finishing in the top five.
