Sea Point is home to the latest market offering in the Cape, a 7-day-a-week food and lifestyle market called Mojo Market.

After months of building activity with an exciting new space taking shape in the building which houses the Mojo Hotel, the brand-new Mojo Market opened its doors on 27 April 2017. Never seen before in Sea Point, this trendy new addition to the bustling Atlantic seaboard stretch boasts over 80 stalls with floor-to-ceiling views of the sea and palm-lined Promenade in a roughly 2000 square meter space. The art deco design of Mojo Market perfectly reflects elements of modern Sea Point architecture, with an emphasis on contemporary metallics and natural wood.

The owners Graeme Robinson, Robbie Lessem and Tara Lerner (who also own the Mojo Hotel) created the market to extend the experience of their hotel visitors but also to give Sea Point residents an interesting new retail and leisure space.

Says Robinson, “Mojo Market has been carefully curated to offer an interesting mix of lifestyle, food and retail. We plan to keep the space alive at night with events too.”

The market will also offer 24-hour coffee via The Mojo Coffee Collective and it is planned that other food vendors will extend their hours too. Lessem says the project was inspired by some of the world’s great city markets, “It isn’t a farmer’s market, it has the energy of a city.”

In this case, the city is Cape Town and so it’s the ideal base for adventure. GoNow rent bikes from the market and visitors can organize some adrenalin activities withCapextreme Adventure Tours.

Food-wise, the market’s offering ranges from fresh and healthy to exotic and interesting. Traders such as Manga Sushi, Kubu African Grill, The Mussel Monger, Argies Argentinian Grill, Te Awesome Tea, The Candy Shoppe, IYO Burger, Chilo and Hokey Poke are amongst the vendors.

Cape Point Bakery will be baking on site and fresh, healthy juices and salad will be served by Beet Box. In a first for the Atlantic Seaboard, iconic American ice-cream brand Baskin-Robins will be opening shop at the market too. The Mojo Coffee Collective will showcase the very best of Cape Town’s artisanal roasters including Deluxe, Baseline, Hazz, Truth, Origin, Za Cafe and their very own Mojo Blend, which will be roasted on site.

The retail offering focuses largely on local and international producers who are creating fresh, contemporary wares from clothing to gifts, jewellery and homeware. Confirmed vendors include Dammit Janet clothing, Sexy Bum Bikinis, Shika Africa’s brightly-coloured and Shwe-Shwe inspired clothing and accessories, King Kong’s leather goods, Matsidisohandmade shoes, Just a Rumour beaded jewellery, King of Denim’s ethically created jeans, Vanilla Tree Indo-African clothing, Modern and Tribal’s Turkish-inspired decor, Kwaai Galleries handmade gifts and homewear and many more.
