I was always a fanatic of the wizarding world when I was younger. Okay, I’m not fooling anyone, at age 21, I still adore watching the Harry Potter movies and spend a good amount of time quoting phrases and trying to pronounce Latin spells. Magic has been an evident theme in children’s books, movies and plays over the years. Believing in magic adds wonder to a child’s imagination and now they can have a real-life magical experience at the 2016 Traditional Children’s Magic Festival.

MAGIC-SHOW

The College of Magic is hosting a Children’s Magic Festival in Claremont from Wednesday 29 June to Saturday 2 July 2016, as part of their winter learning programme. The magical experience will be held indoors, as the winter weather is in full swing in the Mother City. Children can expect to enjoy a four-day magical show programme (no wands or owls required) with magicians, jugglers, clowns and escapologists at College of Magic – the only magical arts organisation of its kind in Cape Town.

There will be photo booths, game stations, training workshops and other forms of entertainment for your little ones. This other-worldly event includes an enchanting walk and tour through the College of Magic’s century-old building, to take in the classic architecture and be thrilled at the surprises behind each door. The magical bunny will be available for a meet-and-greet session, and each little witch or wizard will receive a goodie bag (I hope the goodie bags contain chocolate frogs and Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans).

David Gore, director of the College of Magic, says, ‘Each year, we see hundreds of Cape Town’s families flock to the Festival, eager to be entertained and captivated by our large troupe of amazing performers. The 2016 event is bigger, better and even more magical than ever before, so escape the blistering cold and join us for this heart-warming, must-attend family event.’

The magical programme will consist of a two-hour show, running daily at 10:30 am and again at 2:30 pm.
