At just after 2pm, the City Fire and Rescue Services responded to Cape Town railway station. One train was alight in the railway station area, and firefighting efforts were being hampered by the thick black smoke that is emitting from the station area.

No injuries have been reported as yet, and the cause is undetermined at this stage.

  

The City’s Fire and Rescue Services also responded to a fire at Firgrove railway station at just before 2pm as there were two railway carriages that have been set alight.

No injuries have been reported, and there were 16 firefighters at the Firgrove incident.

A train at Mbekweni Station was reportedly set alight at around 12pm on Friday. It is reported that a  shooting incident took place on board the train.
