Wilderness Search and Rescue have been called in to assist in the search for Cape Town psychologist, Diane Nelson (49), who disappeared from Cecilia Forest on Saturday, June 23.

Wilderness Search and Rescue spokesperson Johan Marais told News24 that police requested their assistance on Thursday morning.

Lieutenant Colonel André Traut, South African Police (SAPS) spokesperson, said that Nelson’s disappearance is still under investigation, adding that “the developments in the matter cannot be disclosed at this stage”.

Nelson was last seen at approximately 8pm on Saturday evening, and was reported missing at Claremont police station.

Her car was found abandoned at Cecilia Forest, which is a popular location among hikers. There are several routes which lead into the forest from the the designated car park.

It is alleged that Nelson’s handbag was found in her car, and while her cellphone was missing, it is suspected to have been on her person at the time of her disappearance. The phone is switched off.

Nelson is 1.8 metres tall, has short blonde hair and was last seen wearing a dark top and grey pants.
