The Met, South Africa’s oldest horse racing event, has galloped into our hearts and has become a prestigious event to attend. 2016 marks The Met as a 133-year-old race, it also marks the end of their long term association with and Kenilworth Racing and Phumelela Gaming. After 39 years, it’s time for a new sponsor: Sun International.

Sun International, a luxury hospitality, gaming and entertainment group quickly offered to take the reins on this opportunity. Sun International is known for hosting fabulous events such as Miss South Africa and the Nedbank Golf Challenge. We’re sure you can expect only the best quality with Sun International’s partnership with The Met.

The Met now has a new name titled ‘The Sun Met’ – in partnership with Maison Mumm the champagne brand. Even though there are new names and titles involved, The Sun Met but still promises to provide all the best forms of entertainment and remains a highly-regarded event on the social calendar.
