“Photography is a language more universal than words.” – Minor White

Anyone with a camera thinks they are a photographer, the truth is, it is a skill that needs to be mastered. There are so many elements that come into play when taking a professional photograph.

There is no better picture than a natural setting, and Mother Nature is the best poser. Annually, the best landscape photography shows off Earth’s beauty. They highlight powerful mountains, scenes of isolation, worlds of colour and light, and the abstract loveliness found in landscapes all over the world.

The International Landscape Photographer competition is open to all photographers with the aim of finding the best 101 landscape images from approximately the past 2 years and publishing them in a beautiful coffee table book, available in several formats, including a free e-book.

The judges are also looking for the International Landscape Photographer of the Year, based on a folio submission of at least 4 images, and the International Landscape Photograph of the Year.

Prizes include US$10 000 cash (about R11 900,00), Epson Printers, trophies, limited-edition copies of the awards book and large framed prints of winning images.

There are also some special awards to keep things interesting, which change each year.

Since the International Landscape Photographer only opens later this year, here are some International competitions for our South African photographers to enter:
