When it comes to theme parties, no one does it better than the Mother City Queer Project (MCQP). For twenty years they have had awesome dress up parties, and this years’ theme is the sweetest one yet. On 19 December, the East City Precinct will be transformed into MCQP’s very own Candyland. The ‘all things sweet’ theme is set to take place across various venues in Harrington Street.

The theme was inspired by the memories of youth, when sweets, chocolates and bright colours were synonymous with happiness. Everything from the décor to the costumes will be dripped in candy delights. Director, Ian McMahon says that partygoers can expect Turkish Delights, suckers, ice lollies and sweetie pies at the event in addition to all the music and fun.

There will be eight music areas to enjoy, including The Assembly, Dragon Room and Sugar Hut Club. Around 110 artists, DJs and performers will provide a variety of entertainment. Famed performer, Lilly Slapped Silly, will be doing her thing at the party along with acts like Dean Fuel, Jamie Saint, DJ Chadd, VJ Karl and DJ Cambis, who hails from Germany.

Each venue will have their own sweet-related theme and performance, and no matter what music you are into, you will find something to enjoy. There will live music, EDM, Cabaret and everything in between.
