Last night the Two Oceans Aquarium was transformed into a suave function area, complete with a red carpet, bubbly and candles. Why? The official launched of the I&J Ocean Exhibit, and it is spectacular.

When you walk up to the glass, it almost feels as if you are right in the tank with the creatures. This feeling is amplified when you walk through the 10-metre-long tunnel. Looking up and seeing a school of fish swimming right above your head is something quite special. You also get to walk through the super cool jellyfish exhibition that showcases the weirdly wonderful creatures in the coolest way.

People were treated to a sneak peak of the I&J Ocean Exhibit on youth day, but now it is open for everyone to enjoy. At the launch, Two Oceans Aquarium CEO Michael Farquhar expressed immense gratitude for everyone who worked on the project, from his staff and aquarium partners to the suppliers of the perspex and rock formations for the exhibit. Michael says the project was announced roughly five years ago, but was in the works for around 12 years. It took two and half years to transform the parking lot between the One&Only Hotel and the aquarium into the I&J Ocean Exhibit, but it was all worth it.

This is the first major construction for the aquarium in 21 years, and Michael is confident that it will bring much needed new life to it for many years to come. Whether you’ve been to the aquarium or not, you have to go check out the new I&J Ocean Exhibit. It’s as if you have gone under the sea.
