The world renowned Signature Lux Hotel by Onomo has opened a new edition to the small hotel group in Cape Town’s Waterfront area.

Just in time for the December rush, the hotel is conveniently situated and offers visitors a prime location for all daily activities – it is literally a stone’s throw from Cape Town’s tourist hub, the V&A Waterfront.

We had the honour of experiencing the hotel and its new offerings first hand and we were impressed by what we saw.

The staff are friendly, accommodating and eager to help, regardless of your requests. The foyer reflects tons of light and is adorned in delicate tones of silver and gold with oversized ornate crystal chandeliers.

The swanky and unique “Vivaldi” restaurant makes for the perfect chill spot, whether you’re coming back from a long day of adventure or heading out for the night and need a place for pre-drinks. The cocktails are created with attention to detail and this is where I had one of the best gin and tonic. The restaurant is filled with gold and brightly coloured detailed chairs and is really extravagant.

If the royal aesthetic of the opulent restaurant and its remarkable cocktails weren’t enough – each evening the stage lights up with the exceptional performances from students of the V&A Waterfront Theatre School. Unforgettable iconic songs, beautiful dance routines and breathtaking violin pieces liven up the atmosphere and you’re transported into the heart of the Cape.

When it comes to a restful night’s sleep, the Signature Lux has it down pat. The beds are soft and comforting with just enough support to send you off into a peaceful slumber – it felt as I was sleeping on air.

Automatic curtains slide up and down with the press of a button, so you don’t need to leave the comfort of your bed to let in the light.

Although the foyer and restaurant on the first floor drip in luxurious decor and design, the rooms are a strong modern and minimalistic contrast. Visitors have access to everything they need with none of the unnecessary clutter.

Check out was a breeze because the tech-savvy hotel’s self-check system is simple and easy to follow.

Our stay at the Signature Lux Hotel was one to remember, it was elevated by the dance and music and let’s not forget that gin.

They are officially open now and travelers are encouraged to book ahead of time to avoid disappointment.

The opening special currently running is a low R599 per night, until 16 September – and even without the special the hotel is unbelievably affordable especially considering it’s prime location.
