When it comes to getaways, the Western Cape is filled with hidden gems. Kogel Bay is one of them. Nestled between Gordon’s Bay and Rooi Els, this beautiful beach camp is a great place to take a breather from the stresses of modern living. The coastline is largely undeveloped, allowing you to unplug properly and enjoy the outdoors the way nature intended it to be.

The relaxation begins the moment you are in the car. It is only an hour away from Cape Town, and the drive is breathtaking. You can’t help but crank up your favourite road trip song, roll down the windows, and breathe in that fresh ocean air as you travel along the sea. Kogel Bay is 4 km of fynbos and sandy beach that is surrounded by mountains. There are 242 camping sites spread across four areas, so you can choose how many people are around you. All the camping sites are on the beach front, so you don’t have to trek to feel the sand between you toes.

One of the most striking features of the camp can be seen at night. Without the light pollution of the city, you can see the stars so clearly.
