Cape Town’s pleas for rain and relief from the water crisis have been escalated – all the way to London’s O2 arena by a group of school children singing Toto’s Africa. And their prayers may just have been answered, as SA Weather Service predicts rain for Cape Town on Friday and Saturday.

The video, uploaded to Facebook by proud grandmother Kae Skinner Sera, features her grandson Riley and his choir mates performing in the capital city.

The tear-jerking video struck a chord with Capetonians, who are still grappling with the water crisis, and has been shared more than 1000 times and has more than 45 000 views.

“Cape Town friends – tonight my grandson Riley was one of 7800 children singing Africa at the O2 in London,” Kae wrote.

“Rain will be coming your way if these kids have anything to do with it. My eyes are watering already #proudgranny.”

“I hope the rain will come to your beautiful place,” said one user.

“Oh wow the tears are falling as a mom with grandchildren in London this is even more special,” said another.
