The iconic Kalk Bay bakery, Olympia Cafe, will serve as the venue, or stage, for the production of the Shakespearean comedy “As You Like It” performed by local theatre group Baked Shakespeare.
Back by popular demand after two sold-out seasons, the theatre group has taken inspiration from the Off-Broadway smash hit, “Drunk Shakespeare”, to produce a classical production with a trippy twist.
The theatrical concept is quite simple. It involves a group of working actors. After downing five shots of whisky, one of them chooses to play a pivotal role in a Shakespearean play. Chaos and hilarity break out as the four sober actors struggle to maintain order.
This season, the “As You Like It” production experiments with themes of gender identity, feminism and… wrestling, and will take place from 3 to 25 February 2023.
Whether the performers will be tipsy or not is for you to find out. The shows are not for people under the age of 18.
