SAPS is concerned about increased kidnappings through provinces this year.
Gauteng had 2 104 cases, KwaZulu-Natal had 785 cases and The Western Cape recorded 248 kidnappings in total.
Police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda urged parents to be alert this festive season sighting malls and beaches as hot spots.
Meanwhile, a Cape Town councillor, Jean-Pierre Smith has highlighted the issue of alcohol at the beach.
“Thousands of litres of alcohol already destroyed, while hundreds more get confiscated from the beaches each day.”
If you are visiting local beaches keep in mind that alcohol should never be mixed with water.
The City’s enforcement staff are on high alert for offenders bringing alcohol into and onto the beaches.
“Under the national Seashore Act, it makes it an offence even to transport alcohol into a beach area. Even having alcohol in your possession on the beach will result in a fine being issued and the alcohol being impounded,” added Smith
