It’s going to be a busy weekend in the heart of the city. On Saturday the annual minstrel parade finally takes place, with some issues bubbling under surrounding the festivities.

Bree Street will be closed off for cars on Sunday from 9 am to 2 pm while Open Streets takes place, the citizen-driven concept that connects communities through healthy recreation, creative expression, local economic activity and alternative forms of transport. Read more about the event here.

The Tweede Nuwe Jaar parade will take place on Saturday 17 January 2015. Residents and visitors are advised to take note of the following road closures from 8 am to 11:59 pm on the day:

No parking will be permitted in Keizersgracht, Darling Street, Adderley Street, Wale Street and Rose Street from 6 am on Saturday until end of services.
