Cape Town Opera presents four new powerful and innovative operas from notable South African composers and writers telling contemporary African stories in imaginative ways.

The format of a number of shorter works was launched in 2010 with Five:20 Operas made in South Africa. Four:30 Operas reunites some of the prolific minds behind the initial project: directors Geoffrey Hyland and Marcus Desando, designer Michael Mitchell and conductor Kamal Khan. Fleur du Cap-winning costume designer Leigh Bishop is joining this year.

On 26 November, professional South African Sign Language interpreters will make the performance more accessible to a wider audience. There will also be specialised Deaf-blind interpreting services.
