Enjoy the spectacular views of the sunset, and do some moon gazing, at the next full moon picnic at the Afrikaanse Taal monument.
Bring a picnic or book a basket from Volksmond Coffee Shop (+27 21 863 2800) which will also be open for refreshments.
The picnic supports the Taalmuseum’s Let’s Read! Project for children, so please bring a new or used kid’s book to help the cause.
Moonrise is at 6 pm and the sun will set at around 7:30 pm. There will be a guided tour of the monument at 6:30 and the gates will stay open until 10 pm.
No booking is required and tickets are available at the gate. Annual permits are available at R120 for individuals or R220 per family, which includes access to the full moon events.
Bring along a flashlight and a jacket. Your pet dog will have to stay at home for this event and fires are not allowed. There will be access controlled secure parking available.
