Friday the 13th is one heck of a reason to celebrate something we really don’t know much about.

Basically Friday is an unlucky day in some cultures and the number 13 is unlucky in some other cultures too, so when both happen to coincide on the Gregorian calendar, (most of) the world gets a little edgy – and then parties a lot.

Cape Town is no exception. Here are the best Friday the 13th parties happening tonight. That’s if you make it that far. (Cue evil laugh)

 FICTION FRIDAY… THE 13TH

One of the better clubs on Long Street, you can be guaranteed the usual mayhem on that undersized dance floor. A Friday the 13th theme that would do Jason Voorhees proud, tonight it’s a great line-up with drink specials starting at midnight. You can be sure that no machetes or chainsaws will be allowed into the club as per strict door policy tonight. Join the Facebook event here.

ACES & SPADES FRIDAY THE 13TH PARTY

Tonight’s shindig at Aces is worth howling at the moon about. If an average Friday night at this Hout Street watering hole is anything to go by, tonight’s party will take no prisoners. The Robfather is on the decks, and the official tag line is ‘the night is dark and full of tequila’.

FRIDAY THE 13TH AT THE SIDESHOW

If you can safely avoid walking under ladders and prevent black cats from crossing your path, then you might find yourself at The SideShow tonight for their Friday the 13th Party. Expect high energy, trippy visuals and the occasional bloodcurdling scream. Join the Facebook event here.
