Cape Town is blessed with an array of wine routes that tick all the boxes – award-winning wines, picturesque views, and good vibes.
While the Cape Winelands offers a spellbinding retreat into the rolling vineyards of this incredible corner of the Western Cape, there are an array of options for those looking to explore the route less travelled.
Durbanville Wine Route is one such route and provides warm hospitality that is coupled with cool-climate wines that ensure smooth sipping.
Cosy wine tasting rooms, mesmerising views of elegant restaurants and an array of wines to choose from – what more could you ask for? Here are three boutique wineries to check out the next time you visit the Durbanville Wine Valley.
Klein Roosboom
Kleinroosboom is a boutique wine estate nestled against the foothills of the Durbanville Wine Valley. Expect glorious views and endless spots to soak up the sunshine and wine with a family ambience that’s perfect for mom, dad and the kiddies. It’s a family-run establishment that’s big on memories and sharing stories over a glass of wine.
Why we love it: They provide a unique wine tasting experience thanks to their themed tasting nooks, or cave. Choose between a range of tasting caves, all uniquely decorated, as you learn more about this boutique wine estate at its many secrets.

Hillcrest Wine Estate
If you drive a few kilometres you’ll find another boutique winery that will leave your wine-loving tastebuds jumping for joy. Along with its warm hospitality and award-winning wines, it also offers a restaurant that serves some mouth-watering foods. Make sure you try the burgers!
Why we love it: While wine is their speciality, so are olives. Hillcrest provides patrons with the chance to sample their bounty of olives, which are all for purchase, including olive oils.

Canto Wines
Canto Wines is a bustling winery that’s nestled on the opposite side of the Durbanville Wine Valley and offers a different view of the rolling vineyards of Durbanville. The farm is small but provides excellent quality despite its size. It’s also just a great spot to try if you’re looking for wines that you won’t find anywhere in the store.
Why we love it: Canto is famous for its incredible views and they take full advantage of this by offering monthly yoga classes that is followed by a glass of MCC and a tasty macaron.
