From taking in strays to providing veterinary services to the disadvantaged communities, the Animal Welfare Society (AWS) of South Africa has done some amazing work for animals across the country. Now, this incredible organisation needs your help.

AWS has been going and growing for 90 years, and open daily. Besides helping find animals their forever homes, this society offers a full range of veterinary services to the underprivileged and disadvantaged communities of Cape Town, as well as focus on education in schools and communities. They also have an Inspectorate Team that answers calls for animal in distress, including injured strays, dog fighting and animal abuse. At any given time, they can house more than one hundred sick or injured animals.

Now, AWS is looking for volunteers to aid them in their latest project. The society is committed to reducing the amount of strays on the streets by promoting sterilisation. AWS are opening their new Isdell Sterilisation Clinic on January 29, and they are looking for volunteers to help plant greenery and flowers around the clinic. The planting will take place this weekend on Saturday, January 18 from 9am. If you would like to help out, please contact Pam Hart on 082 747 6060.
