Take your hiking adventures to the next level with a three-day, two-night stay in the wild. Escape from the bustle of day-to-day living, and switch off from the world by embarking on a trip to Groot Winterhoek Nature reserve.
This scenic gem is found on the mountain range above Porterville, it’s roughly 2.5 hours drive from Cape Town which makes it perfect for a mini road trip.
The picturesque area is home to beautiful landscapes featuring interesting rock formations and pristine rock pools. Better yet, cover yourself under a blanket of millions of stars in the middle of nowhere.
So what can you expect? Well, both days will be entry level distance. The first day will be mostly downhill towards the river to set up camp before sunset, and on the second day, you’ll hike further along the river and and set up camp. The third day you’ll head back to the starting point.
What’s included: qualified multiday guide and medic, 2x dinner, tents, rucksacks, sleeping mats will be included if needed – (details on what’s required will be sent to you when booking). But you’ll need your own sleeping bag since there’s a limit.

Meet up time: 11am on December 10 – 2pm on December 12
Location: Groot-Winterhoek Offices, Porterville
Difficulty level: Intermediate (you’ll be required to carry your rucksack for the duration but it’s not a long uphill climb). Day 2 is a very short hike to the next rock pools, but you’ll experience some incline and short steep sections on day 3 as you make your way up the valley back to the parking lot.
