Short-term rental agents across the Cape are expecting a busy summer season, and locals are encouraged to start planning their holidays ahead of time to snatch up the best spots before they’re all gone.
Local property teams in Cape Town and Hermanus say the summer holiday season starts from September and last till April with booking already in full swing.
Aside from local renters, the South African summer also coincides with the cold Northern Hemisphere winter, offering foreigners a timely escape and making holidays to the Cape during this time of year very popular.
Popular holiday rental spots in the Cape include:
The Atlantic Seaboard
The Clifton and Camps Bay areas very popular during the warmer months in Cape Town.
Locals and foreigners alike enjoy the beach and luxurious renting options available.
These areas come with a hefty price tag of between R2 500 to R250 000 per night, however.

Hermanus is more popular with locals than foreigners but offers both a quaint stay and a much-needed change of scenery during the summer.
