Cape Town is known as one of the world’s most beautiful cities, and it’s no wonder it has made a few lists for some of the most “Instagrammable” locations in the world. Recently, aesthetically pleasing café Nourish’d made it onto a compilation of the most Instragrammed eateries, and now, a local watering hole has made it onto the bar version of this list.

The recent rise in content being shared on social media platforms means that many locales are captured in beautiful photographs to display their unique charm. The millenial need to take pictures of everything provides Cape Town’s inner city life some overdue exposure, resulting in the city being recognised for more than just its beautiful shores.

The world’s top five most Instagrammable bars according to Big 7 Travel include:

1. Sketch – London, England

Sketch is a townhouse in London’s aristocratic neighbourhood of Mayfair, a place many of the city’s young heirs, heiresses and socialites call home. The interior ranges from a beautiful pastel pink velvet restaurant to an amazing glade-like forest bar.

2. Soggy Dollar Bar – British Virgin Islands

Viewed by many as the most famous beach bar in the world, the Soggy Dollar Bar is a lively spot where rum brings its patrons to life and offers breath-taking beach views.

3. Floridita – Havana, Cuba

This famed bar is known as Ernest Hemingway’s favourite watering hole while he lived and worked in this beautiful city. It is tradition for patrons to take pictures by his statue, located inside the bar.

4. The Churchill Arms – London, England

Many consider The Churchill Arms more of a floral wonder than a bar, as large bouquets of flowers adorn the outside of the pub. Tourists often make their way here on Christmas for an incredible holiday photograph.

5. Pretty Poison – Bali, Indonesia

An oddity as far as bars go, Pretty Poison has an empty swimming pool as its main attraction. Revellers are entertained by skateboarders and their amazing skills while sipping on their drinks.

Cape Town’s favourite spot to enjoy some local, artisanal gins takes the 42nd spot on the list. The Gin Bar is tastefully designed, and its indoor and outdoor terraces make for a beautiful location to drink in the city nightlife or simply unwind after a long week.
