In the Mother City we are truly spoiled for choice when it comes to brilliant photo opportunities, and to prove it Cape Town has made it onto yet another list of high-ranking cities – this one being of the most Instagram-worthy cities in the world.

Whether you’re at the beach, in the Winelands or trekking along one of the Mother City’s many hiking trails, you’re guaranteed to get a good shot and popular Travel comparison service Hoppa would agree.

Hoppa ranked the most Instagrammable cities around the world by using the number of times their hashtags are used on social media to produce a list of the top 50 on the globe.

It also ranked each city by what it was most popular for, including selfies, scenery, sexually suggestive content, food, and couples.

Cape Town came in at 6th place as one of the world’s cities that have their scenery photographed and shared on Instagram the most.

The Mother City lost out on the top spot to Santiago (which was number one), Buenos Aires, Klev, Kuala Lumpur and Antalya.

Overall, Cape Town was the only South African city to make the top 50 list, coming in at 44th overall and ranking higher than Shanghai, Copenhagen, Phuket and Frankfurt.

The only other African city that made the list was Lagos, Nigeria, coming in at 42nd.

Cape Town’s hashtag has been used nearly 10-million times and this number is rising steadily, so we may just climb the ranks in years to come.

Here are a few amazing pictures shared under this hashtag proving that our scenery truly is among the best in the world:
