Stellenbosch rugby supporters were treated to an entertaining show at a Varsity Cup game on March 10 as a security officer and the university’s mascot engaged in a dance-off.

A video of the unique dance exchange made its way onto the university’s YouTube channel and proved that both “Pokkel” the mascot and the resident security guard had some mad moves to share.

In the video, Pokkel can be seen initially provoking the guard before a full-blown dance battle broke out with the mascot not expecting the competition he received.

The officer is from the SU Campus Security and works to ensure all students, staff and visitors have a safe campus environment. Their responsibilities include patrolling the university grounds to ensure the community is safe and assisting in the case of emergencies as well as watching over students activities such as rugby games.

It may not be part of his responsibilities to make students smile with his dance moves but we feel this security officer did a particularly good job.
