DARG Animal Rescue located in Hout Bay is appealing to the public to donate cat or dog food before the country-wide lockdown commences at midnight on Thursday, March 26.

“We kindly ask all our supporters to please consider dropping off dog or cat food donations before lockdown. We are already very low on dog and cat food and we have more than 200 animals currently in our care. We would really appreciate any kind help. Thank you to everyone that has already helped us so much during these tough times,” the organisation said in a statement. “Please drop off any kind donations at our premises. Or please consider making a financial contribution towards pet food. Every bit truly helps us so much!”

DARG also has many animals who need to find forever homes in just over a day, as it is trying to evacuate its kennels before the lockdown is out in place. The animals that are not adopted before then, however, will be cared for while the lockdown is in place, hence the need for cat and dog food.

If you do not feel comfortable with going to the DARG shelter in person, it is encouraged that you please donate donations in kind.
