We’re living in pretty stressful times, and the sensation of just wanting to throw something to release your frustration is something most of us have felt before, especially when the power goes out in the middle of that all-important work email, or two minutes before your assignment is due.
There’s a hot trend in Cape Town that offers the perfect way to throw a tantrum, and it’s for anybody who feels like they need a healthy release.
Axe throwing might not be the most conventional hobby there is, but if you’re looking for something really different to sink your axe into in Cape Town, then you’ve hit the bullseye.
XOXO Urban Axe Throwing is the first of its kind in the Mother City, located at the Spice Yard in Salt River.
You don’t need to be a lumberjack to know how to wield an axe, as XOXO caters for newbies as well as those who have already mastered the art of a good axe throw.
If you aren’t too clued up on what axe throwing is all about or why people do it, here’s the lowdown.
Axe throwing is an indoor sport where you play against other group members and earn points based on your target strikes.
It’s known to be a great form of exercise for those arm and core muscles, and has a therapeutic effect on the body!
At XOXO, you can pick your difficulty (an introductory experience or a lane booking for the more advanced axe throwers out there) as well as the amount of people for your fellow axe crew members (axe throwing birthday party anyone?).
For an intro session, you’re looking at two hours of the experience for R290 per person. Booking a lane on the other hand can host up to 6 people at a cost of R900.
