The first eco-estate on the West Coast has launched in the quaint town of Darling, about an hour’s drive from Cape Town, and offers 499 residential opportunities.

Located on the outskirts of Darling and running adjacent to the Darling Golf Course, the Darling Green Estate offers, among other residential opportunities, 139 Country stands, 100 Crafters’ and MTB Village homes and 250 Retirement Village homes.

This exciting development is the first of its kind in the West Coast and great interest from buyers and investors is expected.

The estate will be fully secure with 24/7 access control and CCTV cameras, providing peace of mind in a healthy environment. Additionally, it will be fibre-ready, allowing high-speed, connected living in every way.

Erf sizes start at 875sqm, priced at R395 000. The first ten plots of 875sqm have been made available at a launch price of only R345,000 by the estate developer. The next size up is 1 200sqm plots. Larger plots range from 5000sqm to one hectare.

Property owners will have three years to build. The houses are available in various designs, ranging from two- to four-bedroomed homes, all in a Cape vernacular architectural style and in a spectacular setting, surrounded by the stunning vineyards and country landscapes of Darling.

Building packages are available and are estimated to sell at R9950 per square metre. Property owners can also build their own homes should they wish to do so.

The estate offers a top-quality lifestyle in a secure estate and includes a natural pan and stunning grounds. There is a children’s play area and pump track for kids to enjoy endless adventures.

Property owners will have exclusive access to the rest of the 500-hectare estate for mountain biking, horse-riding and walking, as well as membership (which is included in the monthly levy) to the adjoining Darling Sports Club, which includes bowling, tennis, and access to the nine-hole golf course.

The estate’s craft and food market will offer fresh fare every weekend. Darling and surrounds are a mountain biking mecca, allowing residents to enjoy easy access to a wealth of mountain biking trails.

The estate also enjoys access to quality education, with a host of easily accessible local and private schools. Darling College is a private primary school that starts from pre-primary and goes up to grade 7 and is just 550m from the estate. A daily school bus also runs to Malmesbury, Melkbosstrand Private School and Curro Langebaan.

Darling is a picturesque little farming town. It is synonymous with the entertainer Pieter Dirk Uys and Evita se Perron. Attractions in the area include wine estates, the Darling Brewery and West Coast National Park. The beaches of Yzerfontein are only a few minutes’ drive away, while Blouberg and Langebaan lie about half an hour from the town.

The close proximity to Cape Town means that it is also an option for buyers who do not mind the commute to the city for work, and is an excellent choice for a weekend getaway.
