If you can’t get enough of the seascape and tidal pools are your favourite ocean gem, then appreciating nature’s wonders in art form might be right up your stream.
The sellout show of artist and interior designer, Marie Luise Koen earlier this year, inspired the artist to do a follow-up exhibition – one that reminds South Africans, and particularly those of us in the Western Cape, just how tantalising our local treasures are.

Her earlier exhibition saw a focus on travel and European-beach culture, while the present ‘Tidal Pools’ take is all about the beauty right at Capetonians footsteps.
In Koen’s works, we definitely feel the sentiment of art imitating life.
And, you can even purchase your own tidal pool work, where percentages of the profits will go to The Beach Co-op, a non-profit that works to clear plastic waste from beaches and oceans.
Now as for the artist and architect, Koen is a well-travelled lady who has exhibited all over the globe. She’s based between New York City, and Cape Town – her home ground.
Gaze at Koen’s slices of paradise at The Yard in the Silo District, where the exhibition will be on display until January 15.
